Preschool Ewoks Promotional Kit/Playset | |
This is a promotional item made by Kenner in order to stoke retailer interest in their Ewok Family line of preschool toys. It's basically a cardboard carton, printed all over with colorful graphics, which can be opened to reveal an interior playset.
Here you see the piece with it's top flap raised. As you can see, it opens up much like a counter-top display for trading cards would. The figures you see are production pieces from the various toys issued in this line. I believe they came bagged in the examples that were distributed, but here they are glued to the cardboard base they stand on. This particular example of the set was likely created for in-house use at Kenner. It's a sample of sorts.
Besides the figures, the box also contained two promotional flyers, both of which pitch the line as a can't-miss success.
A close-up of the first flyer's text.
Here's the second, smaller flyer. For a good chuckle, take the time to read through this thing. Talking about the Ewoks in such glowing terms is a bit like praising Michael Jackson for his masculinity. It's a neat piece. Although I generally don't go for Preschool Ewok items, I think this is a great Kenner promotional item. |
