| This is an Empire Strikes Back sample card for the Stormtrooper. It's a 47 back card with the 4-LOM action figure offer. Sample cards are closer in appearance to regular production figures because of the four rounded corners, but they retain unique characteristics, such as having no hole punch or being slightly thicker than production cards. This particular example is somewhat interesting to the proof/packaging collector because the offer underwent some minor changes before being released. The offer on this proof promises a shipping refund and specifically mentions Washington as a state in which the offer is void. The final offer just mentions that the offer is void in any state where prohibited, taxed or otherwise regulated.
What can I say? Little details like this are sort of interesting to me. In this example, it's pretty obvious why they changed the offer slightly. Imagine the pain it would've been for Kenner to send back postage with each ordered figure! |
