Episode I Battle Tank Mock-Up Box | |
Packaging prototypes can be of major interest; they demonstrate the considerable effort that goes into making a retail product appear attractive to consumers--and they often look really funky. This is one of the most interesting packaging prototypes I've ever seen. Its for Hasbro's Episode 1 tank toy, which comes packaged with a bonus Battle Droid figure. As you've no doubt already figured out, the graphics on this box aren't related to the toy it pertains to--determining graphics isn't the purpose of this kind of prototype. Rather, this piece was created in order to determine box dimensions, figure/window placement, insert design, construction, etc. Of course, the box of another toy was used to make this mock-up; it appears to have been culled from some type of futuristic vehicle toy. Most intriguingly, this toy is from a line called "Mattel Wheels." I have to say, its kind of neat to see the word "Mattel" on a Hasbro product.
Here you see another shot of the piece. More glare, but easier to see the figure window. |
