Darth Vader TIE Fighter First Shot
Here's an early, first shot, version of this vehicle. The big mention here is the lack of wing detail. My hunch is that they opted to create the original pattern then wait until after the steel molds were made before they added the tell-tale gridwork on the panels. It was probably easier to create this gridwork directly in the molds by some mechanical means than to try to include it in the original sculpting. Of course you're just gonna have to take this all in faith because this image isn't clean enough that you can even notice the wing detail either way. The center window is yellowed, but it's difficult to tell whether this is due to age or if a tinted plastic was used for this particular piece. I don't believe the electronics are in place either.
