| Conceived before Luke's rather un-Jedi-like scream was added for the Special Edition, this sketch illustrates what seems like a lateral entry into a side portal along the chasm wall--perhaps an early concept that was more fully developed with Anakin's jump over the city of Coruscant in AOTC.
This early sketch is possibly by Joe Johnston, but more likely by another artist on the ILM staff. Most of the storyboards that have found their way into private collections are "first draft" sketches. A more refined version, typically done by Joe Johnston, would be kept for the Lucasfilm archives. |
