Action figure hanger signs seem to have shipped in far fewer numbers during the Empire Strikes Back years, as the Collect all 32, 41 and 48 hangers exist today in far fewer numbers than their Star Wars counterparts. The '48' features a rather unique three-sided design, which was likely employed in order to accommodate all 48 figures, a total which had grown too large to be contained by a one-sided sign.
Without a doubt, this is one of the very coolest display pieces Kenner ever issued, partly because of its shape, but also because of its wonderful graphics. Each major SW and ESB environment is pictured, with the figures appropriate to each being placed within.
The display devotes one whole side to the nine figures new to the assortment at that time, and shows them in a size greater than that of the figures on the other two sides. To a display collector this is definitely a key piece, and one that most will never have the good fortune of finding. Rob better watch that I don't steal this thing the next time I'm over at his place. :^) |
