Leia Boussh Coin Original Plaster Sculpting | |
Kenner's line of Power of the Force coins were sculpted at a scale that was several times larger than that at which the items were eventually pressed in aluminum. Although other materials (such as wax) are known to have been used, plaster seems to have been the principal medium employed by the few sculptors who worked on the line. This, of course, is the sculpt for the Princess Leia in Boussh disguise coin.
This is a closeup of the sculpted detail. Those green areas that you see near the outside rim are the remnants of mold release. The protyping process beind the Kenner coin line is summarized in the Archive feature entitled A Coin is Born, while several of the drawings on which the coin sculptings were based can be viewed here. |
