ROTJ Promotions Guide Book | |
The Star Wars promotions were highly successful ones for Burger King and carried on throughout the original trilogy. The guide book shown here provides details on how restaurants should handle the ROTJ glasses promotion. It lists all advertising displays available for use in the promotion. There is too much info in the book to list here, but one interesting tidbit describes a sales incentive contest for Burger King employees. The offer advises the creation of a suggestion box for workers, where they could make suggestions on the best way to maximize glass sales. The top four suggestions were redeemable for two tickets to see ROTJ. A second intriguing fact found in the book deals with the timing of the glasses. The promotion began May 27, 1983 and ran through June 26, 1983. Each particular glass was only allowed to be sold in its allotted week. Customers who wanted a previous week's glass were informed they'd need to check back between June 26th-July 3rd to purchase leftover glasses. This time-frame is referred to as a "Clean-Up Week" for wrapping up the promotion. Thanks to James Boryla for providing the various details found within the promotional guide. |
