Darth Vader Unpainted 4-up Hardcopy (583-020) | |
The prototype shown here represents an example of a
4-up used in the production process for Kenner's Micro
Collection line. The 4:1 size difference in comparison to its production counterpart makes it a visually appealing prototype as far
as displayability. This particular Darth Vader pose is designated by the unique product number 583-022. The first three digits indicate its
presence in the Death Star Escape playset,
while the last three indicate the particular character/pose. The material most commonly used in the creation of micro 4-ups including the
example seen here is referred to as dynacast, a green colored urethane.
Above we see a view of the Darth Vader 4-up's back.
The image above features the unpainted 4-up along with it's companion silicone mold. Silicone RTV molds such as the one seen here were utilized in the creation of the 4:1 hardcopies. A hand painted 1:1 resin squeezing rounds out the series and serves as a nice size comparison. A seperate entry for the silicone mold may be view here. |
