| Unproduced Torture Chamber 4-up Threepio and Backpack | |
| The piece of primary interest in this photo is that shown in the bottom left corner. It's one of only two hardcopy examples of the backpack from the unproduced Bespin Torture Chamber C-3PO that I know to be in existence. As you can see, it's been painted in the intended production color-- black. The production-stage piece, which is known to exist, was not made of metal, but was actually injected molded in black plastic. To the right of this piece can be seen a blue copy of the C-3PO figure that would have fit into this little sack. It is not an original prototype. Above, at the top of the image, are production-stage examples of both the backpack and the C-3PO figure, neither of which was ever released commercially. |
