Original Concept Artwork for Unproduced Princess Leia (Hoth Outfit) watch by Bradley
This is the original concept artwork from Bradley Time, Inc for an unproduced wristwatch featuring Princess Leia in her Hoth outfit. Obviously the theme is from Empire Strikes Back but it just features the generic Star Wars logo. The size of the paper is 14" x 16" and the art appears to be magic marker, watercolor paint, and colored pencil on drawing paper and is dated 1982. Here the artist used a copy of the original illustration as a base to do his coloring so as to retain the original work in it's line-art state. This would allow the artist to recreate coloring schemes without redrawing the piece each time. The idea here was to model a watch after the wrist communicator Leia wore in the movie. It is drawn at 6x scale for clarity. This piece would have only a watch function because all other features would have been for looks only.

The notes explain the details and say the following:

  • Mock LEDs
  • Mock Controls
  • Band similar to Princess Leia's wrist device

Although Texas Instruments produced the first watches made for Star Wars, Bradley Time produced most of the time pieces for the original trilogy in the 1980's. Their products included clocks and watches both analog and digital. This piece of art was used for in-house reference and on the back is stamped:
