Unproduced Darth Vader 4-up from Micro Dagobah Playset | ||
As far as we know, only one Darth Vader figure was planned for inclusion with the never-released Dagobah Micro Collection playset. It represents Vader as he duels with Luke in Luke's hallucination during his Jedi training. A figure of this type was planned to be included in the Dagobah set from its earliest incarnation, as the existence of the conceptual figure seen here attests. It can be identified as a Dagobah figure due to the terrain like detail on its base.
Here's the back. Nice flowing cape. The companion Luke figure to this piece can be seen here, and the silicone mold of this 4up can be found on the Archive here.
The development of the Micro Dagobah playset is of great interest. Although early conceptual art suggests it was among the first sets conceptualized, it was not included with the Micro Collection's initial offerings; rather, it was planned for a post-Return of the Jedi release, sometime in 1983 or 1984. |
