Lobot Unpainted 4-Up Hardcopy (460-012) | |
Initial sculpts of Micro Collection figures were made at four times production size to allow for a high level of detail. From the initial sculpts, silicone molds were made. Hardcopies, such as this Lobot, were created from these molds to be used for sculpt checking or the
manufacture of steel production molds.
The detail on these Micro Collection 4-ups is impressive. Lobot's portrait has been accurately sculpted though it's only the diameter of a fingertip.
However, the most revealing details are found on the bottom. The "#460-012" refers to the final code number used on the bases of the production Micro Collection Lobots from the Bespin Freeze Chamber playset. The "Lobot Standing" and "Production Tooling Only" comments are presumably from in-house use at Kenner. The "#2" is a bit mysterious but may indicate that this was the second Lobot Standing 4-up made. The tan blob on the lower left shows the resin used by Kenner to patch up any air bubbles trapped in these hardcopies. |
