Hand-Painted Micro Collection 4-Up Hard Copies | |
These are hardcopies of a few of the micro collection figures. They are each four times the size of the final diecast metal figures. They were sculpted in this scale so that the proper amount of detail could be given to them without the sculptors meticulously carving them out in their tiny production size. A gear-reduction machine called a Three Dimensional Pantograph would be used to cut the steel molds from a pattern of this size. Though it is important to note that some of the micro collection figure concept prototypes were actually sculpted at the small production size. These three are copies of the original sculptings and cast in a much more durable polyurethane material. The Wampa and C-3PO here are most likely paint masters or duplicates of them. Paint masters are the hand-painted prototypes that show the color scheme desired for each figure. The Darth Vader is taupe in color and is not painted. |
