Description:
The Sy Snootles and the Rebo Band action figure set was an essential component of any kid's Jabba's Palace diorama. It was also the only multi-pack of exclusive Star Wars figures that Kenner issued during the vintage years. The set came with organ player Max Rebo (a blue elephantine creature), flutist Droopy McCool (a fat, hairless mole) and singer Sy Snootles (ummm....your guess is as good as mine). Four accessories were also included: a large round organ, a flute and two different microphones. The flute and microphones can be found in two different combinations of black and silver plastic. The combination of silver flute/black microphones seems to be the rarer.

This set has always been very popular. This is so not necessarily because collectors love the movie sequence in which these characters appeared, but simply because the set includes action figures, which have always been the backbone of the vintage hobby. Nevertheless, for years, the Rebo band was fairly easy to find in unused condition. This began to change during the mid '90s when the demand for sealed examples finally surpassed their supply. These days the set is fairly expensive, although it remains somewhat less expensive when found in Candian (bi-lingual) packaging. Kenner planned to issue the Rebo Band under their Droids banner in 1986 (the characters appeared briefly in an episode of the Droids cartoon), but the release never materialized. In Europe, a tri-logo version of the set was issued in a nifty solid box (as opposed to the standard shadow box). Hasbro issued revamped versions of these characters during the late '90s, but they were entirely reworked.
