Kenner Shelf-Talker - 'Toy Center' | |
Although by about 1981, Kenner had begun producing their shelf-talkers in a sturdy plastic material, early examples such as this one were constructed of a pretty flimsy cardboard. This is actually the second version of the Star Wars shelf-talker, the first being the "Toy Galaxy" talker, which was available to retailers in 1978. This "Toy Center" type was advertised in the 1979 Toy Fair catalog, and shipped with merchandising items such as the large "Toy Center" header available that same year.
Although this shelf-talker used to be quite rare, a large number of them hit the market in the '10s, and they are easily obtainable today, provided you have a little money to spend. |
