Toy Area Header Card - 'Toy Galaxy' Pole Display | |
This is the display centerpiece for Kenner's 1978 line of toys, the company's debut Star Wars offering. Its constructed of non-corrugated cardboard and features some pretty nifty graphics showing X-Wing fighters and a couple of explosions.
The display is double-sided; the two sides fold at their junction, creating a hollow cardboard rectangle with a hole in its center.
This hole accommodated a pole, on top of which the display could be mounted for easy viewing. The next year saw the debut of the "Toy Center" slogan, and a refreshed merchandising campaign. This "Toy Galaxy" pole sign was supplanted by a much larger, sturdier header card, with similar dogfight graphics and large "Toy Center" text. |
