| It is cliche to see gold and platinum record awards lining the offices/homes of artists and record executives. These awards were presented to artists, record execs, and the top creative talent, however, in practice only a handful of these record awards are ever made for a particular certification. Record awards come in a variety of styles that were issued over the years: floater, strip plate, hologram. Some feature an LP or 45 RPM record, CD, or cassette, or some combination. This is an in house platinum award for Blink 182's Dude Ranch album which contains the song 'A New Hope' which is a song about the Star Wars movie by the same title. This album was released in 1997 and was Blink 182's first recording on a major label. This award was issued in house by MCA Records to honor the sale of 1,000,000 units in the United States. |
