| Return of the Jedi Soundtrack Gold In House Award | |
| It is cliche to see gold and platinum record awards lining the offices/homes of artists and record executives. Most official Star Wars recordings (soundtracks, disco spinoffs, singles, and narrated albums) attained the gold and platinum status (500,000 and 1,000,000 units, respectively, in the United States) by recording industry certification agencies in various countries. As a result, there are a multitude of in-house and agency record awards associated with the Star Wars films. These awards were presented to artists, record execs, and the top creative talent from the Star Wars movies, however, in practice only a handful of these record awards are ever made for a particular certification. Star Wars record awards come in a variety of styles that were issued over the years: floater, strip plate, hologram. Some feature an LP or 45 RPM record, CD, or cassette, or some combination. This is an in house (RSO Records) gold award for the original Return of the Jedi Soundtrack (composed by John Williams and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra). It is the strip plate style and is awarded for sale of 500,000 units in the United States. |
