Happy Empire Day | |
2" dia. Though many think this button was issued to commemmorate the first anniversary of Empire's release, it was actually given away during the first screenings of the film in London 1980. The "Empire Day" of course refers to both the film's title and the fact that England's Empire Day (Queen Victoria's birthday) on May 24 fell near the film's release date. The graphic is of course inspired by Ralph McQuarrie's concept icon for Empire. |
