Kenner 69180 12 Action Figure Mobile - 'Collect All 12' | |
This, the first of several hanging signs produced by Kenner for the Star Wars figure line, is a prime example of this category of collectible. With its depiction of the first 12 figures - vinyl-caped Jawa included - set against an austere black background, it exemplifies the crisp, eye-catching graphics that collectors have come to admire in these signs. Though its a matter of debate whether this sign has its familiar "Collect All 21" counterpart beat in terms of attractiveness, it is, by far, the more difficult of the two to locate and, consequently, considered more desirable. As of late 1977, this display appears to have been intended as a three-sided product. It is designated as such in Kenner's "Products for Delivery" catalog focusing on merchandise and merchandising aids available to retailers in early 1978 (there's also a flat version pictured with the 288-piece action figure merchandiser). This is likely not a typo, as the catalog also refers to the item as a "hang/pole" display, suggesting it was to have a hollow interior into which a pole could be inserted. Kenner would later resurrect the three-sided format for their 1982 action figure mobile. |
