Original Wax Sculpting for Imperial Commander Action Figure
On the list of the most interesting vintage Star Wars action figures, the Imperial Commander falls somewhere between General Madine and Lobot. So, yeah, I know he's boring. But somehow even boring figures are interesting to look at in their original wax-sculpted forms.

This sculpt was created in a white wax of a type that seems to have been frequently used in the early '80s.

As you can surely tell, the sculpt is in pretty rough shape, having sustained breaks at the ankles and on one knee. Additionally, both shoulders have been lost and a good portion of the collar has crumbled from the plastic cylinder incorporated into the neck. (Maybe the Darth Vader sculpt choked this guy a little too forcibly while they were both stored away in Kenner's sculpting department.)

The pencil-drawn lines you see bisecting each arm are called "parting lines". They're visual aids used to help in the creation of silicon molds. You might also be able to make out the greenish residue of mold release on the back sides of the arms.
