The Power of the Force

I'm a twenty-something collector living in Greensboro North Carolina who
also happens to be an Automation Engineer with VF Corporation, testing
e-commerce web sites and automation software. I pretty much picked up
collecting Star Wars toys again with the release of Steve Sansweet's _From
Concept to Screen to Collectible_. Soon thereafter I found the SWCA, and it
just snowballed fom there. The thing I remember most from those early visits
to the Archive is, believe it or not, lunchboxes and ceramics.

I currently focus my collection on the 15 original POTF releases (almost
finished there), as well as foreign POTF releases, particularly those cool
Brazillian Glasslite figures and vehicles. I also collect carded action
figures with an emphasis on first appearances, photo variations, and any
carded Tusken Raider / Sand People figures, and any paperwork and
advertising material relating to the Kenner line. Currently I'm looking for
a 12 Back Takara Sand People, SW 32 Back Sand People, POTF Sand People proof
card, 79 Back Kenner display header, and a POTF Display Bin Header.

I think my interest in Power of the Force figures came about for a few
reasons. Firstly, many of these figures are very well sculpted in
comparison to earlier SW releases, for example Amanaman and Anakin
Skywalker. The packaging itself is also very striking, with bold colors and
a well laid-out design. In addition, I never collected the Power of the
Force line as a child, so in one way it's a way of finishing what I started
way back then. Finally, I like the idea that there is a lot of strange
things going on with the line, from the unproduced proof cards, coins and
figures to the very well thought out Toy Fair displays and Atha Prime. The
history behind this one short lived series is as rich as some entire toy
lines.

I think the idea to do the site (which is based in part on an article I
co-wrote for _The Star Wars Collector_)branched out from this diversity in
the POTF line. There was so much about the line that, while covered
elsewhere, was never combined into one, central site. The really great
thing about the site, I think, is that not only does it cover a wide variety
of POTF *stuff*, but there were also a lot of other enthusiastic collectors
who liked both the idea and the site, and contributed thusly.
