Prototype Boxes for Empire Dolls: Plans to continue the large action figure, or doll, line were well underway in 1980 and many boxes were printed up in order to better visualize the final product. Here are three classic examples of characters from The Empire Strikes Back. These things have never been assembled, thus are perfectly flat. All photos visible from the front side show the prototype doll as well. Many of the ESB prototype dolls are known to be in private collections as well as boxes for these and other dolls bearing the ESB logo. It's believed that any dolls that have been available with the ESB logo box were assembled by collectors and not by Kenner. Except in the case of Boba Fett and IG-88. Many ESB boxes have come up for sale in the open market in the past.
