Japanese Lightsaber With Color Disks: The Takara company produced this rather skimpy lightsaber toy which, as was often the case with the early Japanese toys, differed greatly from its U.S. counterparts. The big feature here was an ability to alter the color of light which the saber emitted, by changing the transparent disk at the base of the "blade" through which it filtered.

These sabers are tough finds and few collectors have had the opportunity to see one. From this shot, you can get an idea of the way in which they were packaged, which, apparently, didn't extend past a simple bag and colorful display card.
